The high speed steel as a roll material significantly increased the service life of hot and cold strip mill work rolls.But it is very difficult to produce the HSS compound rolls by conventional methods including centrifugal casting.Several new ways for making HSS compound rolls are introduced.By those methods HSS compound rolls are manufactured with good bonding at the interface of the core cladding alloys.Of the methods the materials with very different chemical composition can be conveniently cladded on the core alloy.
